Luna In Red

Image
I was digging around the pictures on my hard drive looking for something specific and ran across these. I had intended to blog them earlier this summer. Here's Luna, in red. Unfortunately, I can't remember where I got the outfit. Such a sweet face. We got some snow the end of last week-about 8 inches total. Then it warmed up and rained for 2 days so a lot of it melted. Today it was dry and partly cloudy. I actually saw the sunshine. They're saying all next week will be in the 40's. I would like that. Maybe the last of the snow will go away. We still have a lot of it around. Yesterday I helped my husband paint the new office we've been building in the loft of the garage. It's almost ready for him to move into. He did the second coat today. He's very excited about it. He also built a long desk to put in the office. He put a clear lacquer finish on it today. It's turned out really pretty. I should take a picture of it. Live long and prosper. \\//

Sporty Raglan Baby Cardigan

Image
Normally I would wait until the whole layette set is done before posting this as a finished project. However, this little cardigan is special. I've published a free pattern for it. Pattern : Sporty Raglan Baby Cardigan by me. Size : 6-12 months Yarn : Caron One Pound Content : 100% Acrylic, worsted weight Color : 508 Sky Blue Yarn : Big Twist Value Solids Content : 100% Acrylic, worsted weight Color : 5004 Medium Gray Needles : Circular size 5 and 7 Started : November 28, 2017 Finished : January 9, 2018 I wanted something a little more masculine to make for KnitWits and came up with this idea loosely based on a lettermans jacket. The sweater is in 2 sizes, 3-6 and 6-12 months, and knit from the top down. So no sewing seams. Intarsia is used to knit the yoke/sleeves part. When you get to the bottom of the armholes the sleeves are put on markers to hold until later while the body is finished. The sleeve stitches are then placed back on the needles and knit in the roun. I used the 2-

Zoey Has A Wardrobe

Image
I finally got an opportunity to take pics of Zoey in her new sweaters that I've knit for her. Sweater 1 Pattern : Dogosaurus Rex by Patons Made For : Zoey Size : Large Yarn :  Universal Yarn Uptown Worsted Content : 100% Acrylic Color : 311 Cherry Needles : Circular size 5 and 6 Started : December 4, 2017 Finished : December 30, 2017 Comment : I used the Dogosaurus Rex pattern but didn't put the spikes on the sweater. The booklet this pattern is in, titled Another Dogs Life, is out of print. I found it on Ebay. As with any dog sweater pattern, adjustments have to be made because no two dogs have the same size and shape of body. I made adjustments so it would fit her. Zoey LOVES the sweater. She was so excited the first time I put it on her. She knows it's hers, and she believes she's gorgeous in it. I agree with her. It is the first dog I've met that actually enjoys wearing a sweater. I'm so glad I made it for her. Sweater 2 Pattern : Dogosaurus Rex by Patons Ma

Newsy Stuff

I'm gonna blog about cooking. For Christmas, my daughter and son-in-law sent me a Kitchenaide Stand Mixer. I am very greatful for it. I've wanted on for a long time but could not justify the expense. I had a hand mixer that worked perfectly fine. So when a huge heavy box with my name on it was delivered by UPS, I was mystified and completely surprised when I opened it. It's not just a Kitchenaide, it's PURPLE! I wanted to try it out right then, however, we had a large quantity of Christmas baked goods to eat up first. It would be silly to start baking cakes with all that still needing to be eaten, so I waited. We finally finished it all off. Last Saturday there were 2 very brown bananas in the fruit bowl, so I decided to try out the mixer. I made a banana cake. Wow! Is it ever nice. The mixer, that is. Well, the cake was nice too. It was delicious. But I'm talkin' mixer here. It was so nice to not have to hold on to the mixer and the bowl and it was so quiet. I

2017 Knitting In Review

Image
2017 was a productive year. I have a total of  55 projects in my Ravelry notebook. All of them are small, but I've really really enjoyed them. Admittedly, 9 of them were crochet. Here's a list of all I made. Knitting: 5 pairs childrens mittens 1 pair mens mittens 9 baby cardigans 9 baby hats 9 pairs of baby booties 1 single bootie replacement 1 pair of mukluks 1 dog sweater 1 doll 2-pc set 2 doll dresses 1 doll skirt 3 doll short sleeve tops 2 doll hats Crochet: 9 baby blanket edgings 1 toilet paper cover Should you be interested in seeing them all, go here:  2017 Finished Knitting Of all the projects, I think my favorite is the pink doll dress with the fur yoke. My favorite layette set was this one. I love the color combination. I did have a goal last year to get into making fairisle mittens. Clearly, that got tossed by the wayside after the first pair. I was just enjoying the layette sets too much. This year about the only goals I have is to make Zoey some sweaters, and to ma
